I am a hand stitcher who teaches a range of classes focusing on hand-pieced patchwork and expressive embroidery.

My teaching style is relaxed and I try to make it fun while also being informative. My classes are inclusive spaces where no question is deemed silly.

I’m not an expert, nor the boss; I’m a guide!

Creative. Inclusive.
Fun.

Online Workshops

COMING SOON…

In-Person Workshops

If you own a store or space and would like to host me for some classes, these are the current workshops I teach.

Please do not hesitate to contact me as I would love to hear from you.

Stitch Doodling

Much like doodling with a pencil, Stitch Doodles are a fun and expressive way to wok. Using simple and accessible embroidery stitches and fabric appliques, participants are walked through ways to create their own unique embroidery artworks. This class is perfect from beginner through to the more advanced stitcher as it is equal parts technique and self expression.

What we will cover:

  • Fabric and thread selection.

  • Tools required.

  • Fabric prep.

  • Basic stitches and where to find information about where to find resources on expanding stitch knowledge.

I love working like this and can’t wait to share it with others.

Beginners Hand-Piecing Workshop

Maybe you make quilts using a machine and are feeling called to give hand work a try? Maybe you’re an EPP’er and are intrigued to try, sans papers? Maybe you have never made a quilt, by any method but you feel called to give it a go? Whatever the case, this class it for you! Come and enjoy the relaxing benefits of hand-piecing as I guide you through the simple steps to achieve near perfect results.

We will spend our time together exploring how to join Hexagons by hand, focusing on the classic design 'Grandmother’s Garden. a true fan favourite. We will cover tools, tips, tricks and any questions you might have about how to create quilts by hand.

We will cover:

  • Fabric selection.

  • What’s in a tool kit.

  • Patchwork seam allowance.

  • Cutting with templates.

  • Threading your needle.

  • Knots.

  • Running stitch.

  • The importance of a back stitch.

  • Y-seams.

Improvise

A guide to Straight Line Improv, which to me equals freedom in quilting. It’s a great place to start your patchwork journey as it requires minimal fuss and tools. And, to those who already know how to piece, these projects are a great way to shake off the need to create perfect points or matched mitred seams and to rebel against the traditional!

I have always loved the quilts of Gee’s Bend – practically imperfect in every way but oh so charming! The first project I made was heavily inspired by a quilt featured in my favourite quilting book ever, a book about the architecture of a Gee’s Bend quilt. Over time, I have explored improvised piecing and really love the freedom of creative expression found there.

Making an improv quilt by hand requires fabric, scissors, needle and thread… nothing else, except a sense of creativity and fun! Whether working by hand or machine, just bring a heap of fabric you have no issue chopping into and let’s get stitching.

We will cover:

  • Fabric selection.

  • A scaled back approach to piecing using SEW/TRIM method.

  • How to building sections looking at my quilt, The Lockdown Blues (pictured above).

  • Participants can work my hand or machine.

Colour Queendom

This class is the place to work on colour, curating a selection of fabrics that really gets you going. But, do not expect a colour wheel. I repeat, do not expect a colour wheel!!! This is more about me helping you step into your own colour queendom, whatever that looks like for you!

Bring along any project, mine or otherwise, as we raid the fabrics you have while working out what needs to be added to curate the project of your dreams.

Single Project Workshop

A workshop where we focus in on one of my original quilts, discussing tips and tricks for hand-piecing.

You can select from the following: projects:

  • Florence

  • Kismet Kiss

  • New Thread, Old Spool

  • Sass

  • Simple Squares; beginners hand-piecing

  • Smitten

In these workshops we have more time to get into the nitty gritty of the quilt in question and can really focus in on building the perfect colour palette and skillset to see the project through to completion.
